Over de Streep - The Deer Hunter - Netflix

The Deer Hunter is a 1978 American epic war drama film co-written and directed by Michael Cimino about a trio of Russian American steelworkers whose lives are changed forever after they fought in the Vietnam War. The three soldiers are played by Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, and John Savage, with John Cazale (in his final role), Meryl Streep, and George Dzundza playing supporting roles. The story takes place in Clairton, Pennsylvania, a small working class town on the Monongahela River south of Pittsburgh, and in Vietnam. The film was based in part on an unproduced screenplay called The Man Who Came to Play by Louis Garfinkle and Quinn K. Redeker, about Las Vegas and Russian roulette. Producer Michael Deeley, who bought the script, hired writer/director Michael Cimino who, with Deric Washburn, rewrote the script, taking the Russian roulette element and placing it in the Vietnam War. The film went over-budget and over-schedule, and ended up costing $15 million. The scenes depicting Russian roulette were highly controversial after the film's release. The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Michael Cimino, and Best Supporting Actor for Christopher Walken, and marked Meryl Streep's first Academy Award nomination (for Best Supporting Actress); she would go on to become the most nominated actor in history. In 1996 it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”, and was named the 53rd greatest American film of all time by the American Film Institute in 2007 in their 10th Anniversary Edition of the AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies list.

Over de Streep - Selected tracks - Netflix

Stanley Myers' “Cavatina” (also known as “He Was Beautiful”), performed by classical guitarist John Williams, is commonly known as “The Theme from The Deer Hunter”. According to producer Deeley, he discovered that the song was originally written for a film called The Walking Stick (1970) and, as a result, had to pay the original purchaser an undisclosed sum. “Can't Take My Eyes Off You”, a 1967 hit song, sung by Frankie Valli. It is played in John's bar when all of the friends sing along and at the wedding reception. According to Cimino, the actors sang along to a recording of the song as it was played instead of singing to a beat track, a standard filmmaking practice. Cimino felt that would make the sing-along seem more real. During the wedding ceremonies and party, the Eastern Orthodox Church songs such as “Slava”, and Russian folk songs such as “Korobushka” and “Katyusha”, are played. Russian Orthodox funeral music is also employed during Nick's funeral scene, mainly “Vechnaya Pamyat”, which means “eternal memory”.

De Jacht - Sonbai - Netflix

Sonbai (also spelt Sonnebay, Sonba'i, or Sonbait) was an Indonesian princely dynasty that reigned over various parts of West Timor from at least the 17th century until the 1950s. It was known as the most prestigious princedom of the Atoni people of West Timor, and is the subject of many myths and stories. According to most legends, Sonbai originated from Wehali in the Tetun-speaking central parts of Timor, the classical political and cultural centre of gravitation on Timor. The ancestor of the line, who was a brother of the Liurai (ruler) of Wehali, migrated to the highlands of West Timor, where he married a daughter of a local Atoni lord, Kune, and inherited his lands. The various Atoni principalities tended to relate themselves genealogically to Sonbai, although they did not acknowledge him politically as their lord. Other legends assert that the first Sonbai descended from the sky. Historically, Sonbai is documented in European colonial sources since 1649. At that time it was a politically expansive realm which allied with the Portuguese, who had by this time started to establish their direct influence on Timor. In 1655 Sonbai switched sides and made a contract with the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC), the enemies of the Portuguese colonialists. Serious defeats in 1657-58 at the hands of the Portuguese Topasses, led to a division of the realm. One part of the Sonbai population migrated to Kupang, where the Dutch kept a fort since 1653. This group, known as Lesser Sonbai (Sonbai Kecil), was one of the so-called five loyal allies of the Dutch, together with the princes of Kupang-Helong, Amabi, Amfoan and Taebenu. This group was finally merged with other principalities to form the larger zelfbesturend landschap (self-ruling territory) of Kupang in 1917. The new Kupang principality was governed by members of the Nisnoni family, a side-branch of Sonbai, surviving the Japanese occupation of Indonesia in 1942-45 and the Indonesian Revolution in 1945-49. Its population was 49,168 inhabitants in 1949. In 1955 the new Indonesian republic ended the rule of governing princes (raja) in Kupang. In the interior of West Timor, a Sonbai principality remained under Portuguese suzerainty after 1658. The rulers, known to the Europeans as “emperor”, usually had an inactive role, while the executive governance was done by their main lieutenants of the Kono family. Therefore, the inland principality was often known as Amakono (Ama = father). The realm was also known as Greater Sonbai (Sonbai Besar). In 1748-49 the ruler of Greater Sonbai defected from Portugal and escaped to Kupang, submitting to the Dutch. Later on, in 1782, the Greater Sonbai congregation again broke with the Dutch and re-established an autonomous realm in the interior. It approximately covered the regions Fatuleu, Mollo and Miomaffo. After 1867 this realm began to break up, as minor rajas asserted their independence. The last pretender-ruler was captured by Dutch colonial troops in 1906, bringing a definite end to the principality.

Icarus - Icarus - Netflix

In Greek mythology, Icarus (the Latin spelling, conventionally adopted in English; Ancient Greek: Ἴκαρος, Íkaros, Etruscan: Vikare) is the son of the master craftsman Daedalus, the creator of the Labyrinth. Icarus and his father attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that his father constructed from feathers and wax. Icarus' father warns him first of complacency and then of hubris, asking that he fly neither too low nor too high, so the sea's dampness would not clog his wings or the sun's heat melt them. Icarus ignored his father's instructions not to fly too close to the sun; when the wax in his wings melted he tumbled out of the sky and fell into the sea where he drowned, sparking the idiom “don't fly too close to the sun”. This tragic theme of failure at the hands of hubris contains similarities to that of Phaëthon.

Icarus - Medieval and Renaissance literature - Netflix

Ovid's treatment of the Icarus myth and its connection with that of Phaëthon influenced the mythological tradition in English literature as received and interpreted by major writers such as Chaucer, Marlowe, Shakespeare, Milton, and Joyce.

In Renaissance iconography, the significance of Icarus depends on context: in the Orion Fountain at Messina, he is one of many figures associated with water; but he is also shown on the Bankruptcy Court of the Amsterdam Town Hall - where he symbolizes high-flying ambition. The 16th-century painting Landscape with the Fall of Icarus, traditionally but perhaps erroneously attributed to Pieter Bruegel the Elder, was the inspiration for two of the 20th century's most notable ecphrastic English-language poems, “Musée des Beaux Arts” by W.H. Auden and “Landscape with the Fall of Icarus” by William Carlos Williams. Other English language poems referencing the Icarus myth are “To a Friend Whose Work Has Come to Triumph” by Anne Sexton, “Icarus Again” by Alan Devenish, “Mrs Icarus” by Carol Ann Duffy, “Failing and Flying” by Jack Gilbert, and “Icarus Burning” and “Icarus Redux” by Hiromi Yoshida.

De Zonen van Van As - Teun van de Keuken - Netflix

Teun van de Keuken (born 1971) is a Dutch producer of television and radio programs who established a reputation investigating fair trade and production practices in the food industry; he founded the chocolate company Tony's Chocolonely. He debuted in 2017 as a novelist.

De Zonen van Van As - Television and investigative journalism - Netflix

Van de Keuken was born to strongly left-wing parents (his father was documentary filmmaker Johan van der Keuken), and referred to the environment in his parents' house as a “secular Calvinism”. He became known for the program Keuringsdienst van waarde, which focused on problems in food production, including slavery and child labor. Research for this show led him to focus on chocolate. He sought publicity and a verdict by the courts on slave labor by eating chocolate bars made with slave labor, and asking to be arrested as an accessory to the crime of employing child slaves. In the end he created what he called “slave-free chocolate”, manufactured following fair trade conventions, under the brand Tony's Chocolonely. In 2011, 51% of the company was bought by businessman Henk Jan Beltman. In a 2016 documentary about him called Tony, Van de Keuken said that it was all to no avail, that slave labor still was part of the manufacturing chain; Beltman accepted that as a challenge to continue the struggle against slavery in the cocoa trade. He made other investigative journalistic productions such as De slag om Brussel and De slag om Nederland, and in 2014 published a collection of articles on food, food production, and certification marks. Since 2015 he has presented De Monitor, an investigative journalism program.

Combat - Ace Combat - Netflix

Ace Combat (エースコンバット; Ēsu Konbatto) is a hybrid flight simulation action video game series featuring 18 games published by the Japanese company Bandai Namco Games and produced by Project Aces, an internal development team. The series emphasizes fast-paced action and dramatic plots, and has established itself as one of the longest running arcade flight action franchises. The main series of games takes place in the same fictionalized world populated with fictional countries with details loosely based on real-life locations, events, and wars. One of the main selling points of the series is the ability to pilot a range of aircraft that include accurate or slightly modified representations of present-day military aircraft, prototypes that never saw actual battle, and completely fictional boss-type superweapons. Longtime fans of the series are rewarded with small hints of the continuity between the games, as some characters and events are referenced from one game to another. The first three titles in the series were released on the Sony PlayStation system: (Air Combat also known as Ace Combat in Japan, Ace Combat 2 and Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere). Three subsequent titles were released on the PlayStation 2: (Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War and Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War). Two titles were released on the PlayStation Portable: Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception and Ace Combat: Joint Assault. One title was released on the Xbox 360: Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. Ace Combat Xi: Skies of Incursion was released on the Apple iOS in 2009. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows, making it the only multiplatform title in the series. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy was released for the Nintendo 3DS. In 2013, they revealed Ace Combat Infinity, the first free-to-play title in the series, which was released in 2014 exclusive to the PlayStation 3. On 5 December 2015, the next main installment in the series, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, was announced, and is set to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam.

Combat - Title differences - Netflix

The Japanese Ace Combat was renamed Air Combat in the North American and European releases of the original game. In NTSC territories, the fourth installment of the series is known as Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, while in PAL territories the game is known as Ace Combat: Distant Thunder. The Spanish version of the game is known as Ace Combat: Trueno de Acero, which can be translated as Ace Combat: Steel Thunder. The NTSC version of the fifth installment of the game is known as Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, while the PAL release was renamed Ace Combat: Squadron Leader. In PAL territories, the word “Zero” in Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War was removed, making it the first game since the series introduction to not have a significant name change in PAL territories. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy in English-speaking territories was originally titled Ace Combat 3D: Cross Rumble in Japan.

Lauren! - Lauren Conrad - Netflix

Lauren Katherine Tell (née Conrad; born February 1, 1986) is an American television personality, fashion designer, and author. Born and raised in Laguna Beach, California, she attended Laguna Beach High School. In September 2004, at the age of 18, Conrad came to prominence after being cast in the reality television series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which documented her life and friends' lives. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the fashion industry in May 2006, Conrad was commissioned to star in her own spin-off series The Hills, which chronicled the personal and professional lives of her and friends Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, and Whitney Port. During its production, she attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and held positions with Teen Vogue and Kelly Cutrone's PR firm People's Revolution. As the series progressed, a widely publicized feud developed between Conrad, Montag and Montag's boyfriend Spencer Pratt. Consequently, the conflict became the central focus of the series, and was carried through each subsequent season in which Conrad appeared. In May 2009, Conrad left The Hills after five seasons, and was replaced by former Laguna Beach cast member Kristin Cavallari. She filmed an alternate ending for the series finale in July 2010, which was broadcast in August 2013. Conrad launched the fashion lines LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown in 2009 and 2011, respectively. She released the L.A. Candy book trilogy in 2010 and the spin-off The Fame Game series in 2012. Conrad married former musician and law school graduate William Tell in September 2014.

Go Back To Where You Came From is a Logie Award-winning Australian TV documentary series, produced by Cordell Jigsaw Productions and broadcast in 2011 (Season 1), 2012 (Season 2) and 2015 (Season 3) on SBS. Rot Op Naar Je Eigen Land - Season 1 - Netflix

The six Australian participants were Mike Hunt, Adam Hartup, Raquel Moore, Darren Hassan, Raye Colbey, and Roderick Schneider. Deprived of their wallets, phones and passports, they board a leaky refugee boat (from which they are rescued mid-ocean), experience immigration raids in Malaysia, live in Kakuma Refugee Camp in far north-west Kenya, visit slums in Jordan before ultimately making it to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Iraq, protected by UN Peacekeepers and the US military. In the final episode, the participants are debriefed for their response to the experiences.

Op zoek naar Frankrijk - Dutch grammar - Netflix

This article outlines the grammar of the Dutch language, which shares strong similarities with German grammar and also, to a lesser degree, with English grammar.

Op zoek naar Frankrijk - Foreign plurals - Netflix

For a number of nouns of Latin origin, a Latin-like plural may be used. Depending on the word and the formalness of the setting, a regular plural in -en or -s can also be used. museum “museum” → musea or museums politicus “politician” → politici or politicussen Some modern scientific words borrowed from Latin or Greek form their plurals with vowel lengthening, like the native words listed above. These words are primarily Latin agent nouns ending in -or and names of particles ending in -on. Alongside the change in vowel length, there is also a stress shift in the plural, patterned on the Latin third declension where this also occurs. In each case, the singular follows a Latin-like stress, while the plural stresses the -on- or -or-. Some examples: elektron (/eːˈlɛktrɔn/ “electron”) → elektronen (/eːlɛkˈtroːnə(n)/ “electrons”) doctor (/ˈdɔktɔr/ “doctor (holder of a doctorate)”) → doctoren (/dɔkˈtoːrə(n)/ “doctors”) graviton (/ˈɣraːvitɔn/ “graviton”) → gravitonen (/ɣraːviˈtoːnə(n)/ “gravitons”) reactor (/reːˈɑktɔr/ “reactor”) → reactoren (/reːɑkˈtoːrə(n)/ “reactors”) Words borrowed from English or French will generally form their plural in -s, in imitation of the native plural of those languages. This applies especially to recent borrowings. harddisk → harddisks bonbon → bonbons

60 jaar Songfestival - Eurovision Song Contest 2005 - Netflix

The Eurovision Song Contest 2005 was the 50th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Kiev, Ukraine, following Ruslana's win at the 2004 Contest in Istanbul, Turkey with the song “Wild Dances”. The contest consisted of two shows: the semi-final and final, which took place on 19 and 21 May 2005, respectively, at the Palace of Sports. The shows were hosted by Maria Efrosinina and Pavlo Shylko. Thirty-nine countries participated, including the débuts of Bulgaria and Moldova and the return of Hungary, which was last represented in 1998. Organizers hoped that this event would boost Ukraine's image abroad and increase tourism, while the country's new government hoped that it would also give a modest boost to the long-term goal of acquiring European Union membership. The winner for 2005 was Greece with the song “My Number One” performed by Helena Paparizou, written by Christos Dantis and Natalia Germanou, both successful singer-songwriters in Greece. It scored 230 points, beating Malta into second place by a margin of 38 points. This was the first victory for Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest. Romania, Israel and Latvia rounded out the top five. The “Big Four” countries (France, Germany, Spain and United Kingdom) ended up as the “Last Four”, all placing in the bottom four position of the scoreboard in the final.

Chiara previously represented Malta in 1998, and would return again in 2009. Anabel Conde, who represented Spain in 1995, returned as a backing vocalist for Andorra.

Ik zorg voor jou - Comparison of Afrikaans and Dutch - Netflix

Afrikaans is a daughter language of Dutch and—unlike Netherlands Dutch, Belgian Dutch and Surinamese Dutch—a separate standard language rather than a national variety. As an estimated 90 to 95% of Afrikaans vocabulary is ultimately of Dutch origin, there are few lexical differences between the two languages; however, Afrikaans has a considerably more regular morphology, grammar, and spelling.

Ik zorg voor jou - Colloquialisms - Netflix

Another consequence of the two languages diverging has been the differences between colloquialisms, meaning that a word in Dutch which has no offensive connotations is used as an expletive or term of abuse in Afrikaans, and vice versa, although other changes in meanings have also arisen. For example, the Afrikaans phrase die meisie gooi haar flikkers (“the girl throws her sparkle”) was highlighted by the Dutch journalist, Derk-Jan Eppink, in an article in the daily NRC Handelsblad, as an example of differences in meaning. In Afrikaans, flikkers by iemand gooi means to flirt with someone, but in Dutch, flikker means a male homosexual, while flikker op! is akin to the British English expletive “bugger off!”

Met Vier in Bed - Gypsy (Fleetwood Mac song) - Netflix

“Gypsy” is a song by the rock group Fleetwood Mac. Written by Stevie Nicks around 1979, the earliest demo recordings were made in early 1980 with Tom Moncrieff for possible inclusion on her debut solo album Bella Donna. However, when Nicks' friend Robin Anderson died of leukemia, the song took on a new significance and Nicks held it over for Fleetwood Mac. “Gypsy” was the second single release and second biggest hit from the Mirage album, following “Hold Me”, reaching a peak of number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. In 2017, Nicks recorded an acoustic version to serve as the theme song for the Netflix drama series Gypsy.

Met Vier in Bed - Dwight Schrute - Netflix

Dwight Kurt Schrute III is a fictional character on The Office (U.S. TV series), portrayed by Rainn Wilson, and based on Gareth Keenan from the original UK series. His character is one of the highest-ranking salesmen as well as assistant (to the) regional manager at the paper distribution company Dunder Mifflin, although the series expands on his character as bed-and-breakfast proprietor at Schrute Farms, a beet plantation, and as the owner of the business park enclosing Dunder Mifflin. He is notorious for his lack of social skills and common sense, his love for martial arts and the justice system, and his office rivalry with fellow salesman Jim Halpert. He is also known for his love relationship with Angela. He has at times risen to the position of acting Branch Manager of the Scranton branch, but often serves as a second or third in command as Assistant (to the) Regional Manager. In the final season, Dwight is finally offered the position of permanent Regional Manager.

Met Vier in Bed - Vice presidential bid joke - Netflix

On the May 7, 2008, episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, US Senator and Republican Party presidential nominee John McCain joked that Dwight Schrute would be his vice presidential candidate choice. Rainn Wilson appeared on The Tonight Show on May 14, 2008, and read to Jay Leno a list of demands from Dwight in exchange for being vice president. Included in this list was being able to pilot Air Force One at any time, and only to be addressed as “Iceman” while piloting. He also demanded that Jack Bauer be immediately promoted to United States Secretary of Defense, his bunker to include a foosball table and be zombie-proof, and that the Secret Service members be armed with nunchakus, throwing stars, and flamethrowers. Finally, he demanded a flamethrower, an Iron Man suit, and that fellow character Michael Scott be an “ambassador to Hawaii.”

De 25 ... - USS Wintle (DE-25) - Netflix

USS Wintle (DE-25) was an Evarts-class destroyer escort constructed for the United States Navy during World War II. It was promptly sent off into the Pacific Ocean to protect convoys and other ships from Japanese submarines and fighter aircraft. By the end of the war, when she returned to the United States, she had proudly accumulated three battle stars. Wintle was laid down on 1 October 1942 at the Mare Island Navy Yard as BDE-25, one of the destroyer escorts allocated to the Royal Navy under the lend-lease program; launched on 18 February 1943; sponsor unknown (Lt. Comdr. Wintle's widow sponsored DE-266 which ship carried the name Wintle at the time BDE-25 was launched); reallocated to the United States Navy on 4 June 1943; named Wintle on 14 June 1943 when DE-266 was allocated to the Royal Navy as her replacement; and commissioned on 10 July 1943, Lt. Comdr. Leonard W. Bailey, USNR, in command.

De 25 ... - Antisubmarine patrol operations - Netflix

On 17 June, Wintle and Levy (DE-162) stood out of Eniwetok to take up ASW station on the shipping lanes between Eniwetok and the Marianas. The next day, she responded to a report that Endymion (ARL-9) had been torpedoed but, upon reaching the repair ship, found no submarine to attack. After an unsuccessful search, she headed back to Eniwetok. The warship continued intermittent patrols until 1 July when she put to sea from Eniwetok lagoon to rendezvous with a hunter-killer group built around Kassan Bay (CVE-69). She searched for Japanese submarines along the Eniwetok-Marianas shipping lanes until relieved by Snyder (DE-745) on 8 July. Wintle returned to Eniwetok where she took on fuel and supplies in preparation for the long voyage back to the United States. The destroyer escort exited the lagoon on 12 July, visited Pearl Harbor on the 18th and 19th, and entered San Francisco Bay on the 26th.

NPO 1 (formerly Nederland 1 Dutch pronunciation: [ˌneːdərlɑnt ˈeːn] until 2014) is the first national television station in the Netherlands, it launched on 2 October 1951. It provides public broadcasting and currently exists next to sister channels NPO 2 and NPO 3. A wide range of broadcasting organisations of the Publieke Omroep deliver programs. A wide variety of programs is broadcast on the channel, usually for larger audiences. In 2016, it was the most viewed channel in the Netherlands, reaching a market share of 21.9%.

De Reünie - Transition to HD and the NPO - Netflix

Until 2006 each public broadcasting organisation had been associated with just one channel, being either Nederland 1, Nederland 2 or Nederland 3. In season 2006/2007 the three channels got re-arranged. Nederland 1 became the flagship television channel aimed at a wide audience, Nederland 2 got a more highbrow programming with news, current affairs and documentaries and Nederland 3 is oriented towards children, youth and innovative television. The NOS is no longer the coordinating organisation. This function is taken over by the newly formed NPO. On 16 September 2007, Nederland 1, Nederland 2 and Nederland 3 switched completely to anamorphic widescreen—before that time, only some of the programming was broadcast in widescreen. On 4 July 2009, all three channels began simulcasting in 1080i high-definition. Before the launch of the permanent HD service, a test version of the Nederland 1 HD channel was made available from 2 June 2008 until 24 August 2008 in order to broadcast Euro 2008, the 2008 Tour de France and the 2008 Summer Olympics in HD. On 12 March 2013, the NPO announced that Nederland 1, 2 and 3 would be renamed as NPO 1, 2 and 3. The reason for this change is to make the channels and its programmes more recognizable. The rebranding completed on 19 August 2014.

It was aired from September 2011 to January 2012 on RTL4. One of the important premises of the show is the quality of the singing talent. Four coaches, themselves popular performing artists, train the talents in their group and occasionally perform with them. Talents are selected in blind auditions, where the coaches cannot see, but only hear the auditioner. Martijn Krabbé, who was hosting season one, remained as the host but was now joint by Wendy van Dijk, with whom he was already sharing the hosting duties on (Idols. Winston Gerschtanowitz was interviewing the contestants and their inmates backstage while Airen Tjon-A-Tsien was the V-Reporter (social media correspondent) on this edition. Angela Groothuizen, Nick & Simon and Roel van Velzen returned as coaches for their second season. Jeroen van der Boom left the show, being replaced by popular Dutch pop-artist Marco Borsato who would eventually win the show with 19-year-old Iris Kroes on the 20th of January 2012 over Chris Hordijk for Team Nick & Simon, who again became the runners-up of the show. Kroes won over Hordijk with only 51% of the votes, making her the second female contestant worldwide to win the show after Steliyana Khristova, who won the Bulgarian version of the show.

A'dam - E.V.A. - Francis turbine - Netflix

The Francis turbine is a type of water turbine that was developed by James B. Francis in Lowell, Massachusetts. It is an inward-flow reaction turbine that combines radial and axial flow concepts. Francis turbines are the most common water turbine in use today. They operate in a water head from 40 to 600 m (130 to 2,000 ft) and are primarily used for electrical power production. The electric generators that most often use this type of turbine have a power output that generally ranges from just a few kilowatts up to 800 MW, though mini-hydro installations may be lower. Penstock (input pipes) diameters are between 3 and 33 ft (0.91 and 10 m). The speed range of the turbine is from 75 to 1000 rpm. A wicket gate around the outside of the turbine's rotating runner controls the rate of water flow through the turbine for different power production rates. Francis turbines are almost always mounted with the shaft vertical to isolate water from the generator. This also facilitates installation and maintenance.

A'dam - E.V.A. - Components - Netflix

A Francis turbine consists of the following main parts: Spiral casing: The spiral casing around the runner of the turbine is known as the volute casing or scroll case. Throughout its length, it has numerous openings at regular intervals to allow the working fluid to impinge on the blades of the runner. These openings convert the pressure energy of the fluid into momentum energy just before the fluid impinges on the blades. This maintains a constant velocity despite the fact that numerous openings have been provided for the fluid to enter the blades, as the cross-sectional area of this casing decreases uniformly along the circumference. Guide and stay vanes: The primary function of the guide and stay vanes is to convert the pressure energy of the fluid into the momentum energy. It also serves to direct the flow at design angles to the runner blades. Runner blades:Runner blades are the heart of any turbine. These are the centers where the fluid strikes and the tangential force of the impact causes the shaft of the turbine to rotate, producing torque. Close attention in design of blade angles at inlet and outlet is necessary, as these are major parameters affecting power production. Draft tube: The draft tube is a conduit that connects the runner exit to the tail race where the water is discharged from the turbine. Its primary function is to reduce the velocity of discharged water to minimize the loss of kinetic energy at the outlet. This permits the turbine to be set above the tail water without appreciable drop of available head.

Rote Bergsteiger - Villgraten Mountains - Netflix

The Villgraten Mountains (German: Villgratner Berge) or Deferegg Alps (Deferegger Alpen), also called the Defreggen Mountains (Defreggengebirge, archaically also with “ff”) are a subgroup of the Austrian Central Alps within the Eastern Alps of Europe. Together with the Ankogel Group, the Goldberg Group, the Glockner Group, the Schober Group, the Kreuzeck Group, the Granatspitze Group, the Venediger Group and the Rieserferner Group, the Villgraten Mountains are part of the major mountain range, the High Tauern. Their highest summit is the Weiße Spitze with a height of 2,962 m above sea level (AA).

Rote Bergsteiger - Highest summit - Netflix

In the centre of the group rise two summits of almost equal height (46°52′18″N 12°21′29″E and 46°52′34.86″N 12°20′39.96″E), called the Weiße Spitze and Rote Spitze (“White Peak” and “Red Peak”). The more easterly, with a height of 2,962 m above sea level (AA), is the highest point in the group. On that, all the maps and literature are agreed. However, the naming of the two summits is disputed. Whilst the majority of the Alpine literature, the official maps and the inhabitants of the southern Villgraten valleys call the higher, eastern summit the Weiße Spitze, and its lower, western, neighbour the Rote Spitze, it is referred to in the Defreggental, north of the mountains, and in one of the hiking books the other way around, thus naming the highest point as the Rote Spitze. Because the sources do not agree on the naming of these peaks, the designation used by the Austrian Federal Office of Metrology and Surveying is generally preferred. They confirm that the eastern summit is called the Weiße Spitze with a height of 2,962 m above sea level (AA) as the highest peak in the group.

Combat - Lockheed MC-130 - Netflix

The Lockheed MC-130 is the basic designation for a family of special mission aircraft operated by the United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), a wing of the Air Education and Training Command, and an AFSOC-gained wing of the Air Force Reserve Command. Based on the Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport, the MC-130s' missions are the infiltration, exfiltration, and resupply of special operations forces, and the air refueling of (primarily) special operations helicopter and tilt-rotor aircraft. Members of the family include the MC-130E Combat Talon I, MC-130H Combat Talon II, MC-130W Combat/Dragon Spear, MC-130P Combat Shadow, and MC-130J Commando II. A possible MC-130 variant, designated the XFC-130H, did not proceed beyond the development stage, but one of its aircraft became the YMC-130H testbed aircraft for the Combat Talon II. The first of the variants, the MC-130E, was developed to support clandestine special operations missions during the Vietnam War. Eighteen were created by modifying C-130E transports, and four lost through attrition, but the remainder served more than four decades after their initial modification. An update, the MC-130H Combat Talon II, was developed in the 1980s from the C-130H and went into service in the 1990s. Four of the original 24 H-series aircraft have been lost in operations. The Combat Shadows were built during the Vietnam War for search and rescue operations and repurposed in the 1980s as AFSOC air-refueling tankers; the last of the 24 retired in 2015. The Combat Spear was developed in 2006 as an inexpensive version of the Combat Talon II but was reconfigured and designated the AC-130W Stinger II in 2012. The MC-130J, which became operational in 2011, is the new-production variant that is replacing the other special operations MC-130s. As of May 2016, the Air Force has taken delivery of 33 of the planned 37 -J models.

Rot Op Naar Je Eigen Land - Rot op met je religie - Netflix

Rot op met je religie (English: To Hell With Your Religion) is a 2017 Dutch television series by the Evangelische Omroep, presented by Kefah Allush.

Rot Op Naar Je Eigen Land - Reception - Netflix

Stichting KijkOnderzoek, a ratings tracking service, reported that about 531,000 people watched the first episode. According to NRC Handelsblad, the EO used the programme to deliberately fan the flames of religious stress, and by their selection of participants created an unfair representation of the various worldviews: “The casting wants us to primarily look for reasonableness amongst the four religious participants (...). Even the two non-believers clash occasionally, because one is vegan and the other finds that to be politically correct bullshit. In short: in the first episode, the religious stress isn't quite fairly distributed yet between the followers of God and those who reject the existence of the fairytale character of god.” After three episodes, de Volkskrant, too, concluded that “the EO does everything within their power to let all hell break loose. There is no live and let live.” Just like in the previous Rot op series, the programme would primarily be “about confrontation, heated discussions and perhaps a vain hope of reconciliation.” It noted that the most fierce nonbeliever, Floris, “is portrayed the least sympathetic by the montage so far.” On the preview of the fourth episode, in which Safeer shows his unease when meeting a gay Muslim, the newspaper's reviewer (referencing Genesis 1:4) commented: “Someone saw the announcement, and saw it was not good. Stress!” A critic from ThePostOnline disagreed with the Volkskrant's criticism of the montage: “By definition, media select that which is appetising.” On the contrary, 'sensational television' is interesting, especially to discover who 'understands the art of living and tolerance best'. In his opinion, the atheist and vegan Floris, “whose raised voice against his religious fellow man may go into Dutch television history as legendary”, drawing the comparison to the late politician Pim Fortuyn, finishes last in this regard, followed by the imam Safeer, whilst sympathy for the atheist Bryan is growing throughout the series, and the Jewish Sheila has had the audience's sympathy from the beginning. Furthermore, the EO allegedly lacked a sense of humour, and the idea of 'let it be' would only rarely feature in the show.

LouisLouise is a Flemish soap opera based on the Argentine success Lalola format.

Louis is a successful editor of the men's magazine Don. He feels like he is the boss of the universe, until he bumps into Eva. He convinces her into sleeping with him, dumps her and then continues his life. Eva can't accept this, and asks her best friend, Babs (Lotte Mariën) for advice. She speaks an occult curse on him, not aware that on this night, a special cosmic constellation of planets takes place. That night, Louis is transformed into a woman. When he wakes up, he panics. His roommate and best friend, Charlotte De Wilde, convinces him to go to the editors disguised as Louise, the niece of Louis, and do a very important presentation for investors of Uitgeverij Hercules, the company behind the magazine Don.

When his boss, Vic Mutsaerts, tries to call Louis, he is surprised to get Charlotte on the line instead. She quickly lies and says that Louis had to leave for his sick father in Canada, and that his cousin and confidant Louise will lead the meeting.

Louis has to go through life as a woman now. Louise turns out to be a beautiful woman and finds out what it's like to be a woman in modern society. Louis faces that Louise is not often taken seriously and doesn't know what to do. Charlotte introduces Louise to the world of women, with little success. Tasks such as walking on high heels and forgetting about her manly principles seem impossible. By trial and error, she learns the disadvantages of women, but also the benefits. Louis then has to make a decision of staying a woman or changing back to a man, which is made difficult by the fact that his Louise ego has fallen in love with a man.

LouisLouise - Louis XVI of France - Netflix

Louis XVI (French pronunciation: [lwi sɛːz]; 23 August 1754 – 21 January 1793), born Louis-Auguste, was the last King of France before the fall of the monarchy during the French Revolution. He was referred to as Citizen Louis Capet during the final four months of his life. In 1765, at the death of his father, Louis, son and heir apparent of Louis XV, Louis-Auguste became the new Dauphin of France. Upon his grandfather's death on 10 May 1774, he assumed the title “King of France and Navarre”, which he used until 4 September 1791, when he received the title of “King of the French” until the monarchy was abolished on 21 September 1792. Louis XVI was guillotined on 21 January 1793. The first part of his reign was marked by attempts to reform France in accordance with Enlightenment ideas. These included efforts to abolish serfdom, remove the taille, and increase tolerance toward non-Catholics. The French nobility reacted to the proposed reforms with hostility, and successfully opposed their implementation. Louis implemented deregulation of the grain market, advocated by his liberal minister Turgot, but it resulted in an increase in bread prices. In periods of bad harvests, it would lead to food scarcity which would prompt the masses to revolt. From 1776, Louis XVI actively supported the North American colonists, who were seeking their independence from Great Britain, which was realised in the 1783 Treaty of Paris. The ensuing debt and financial crisis contributed to the unpopularity of the Ancien Régime. This led to the convening of the Estates-General of 1789. Discontent among the members of France's middle and lower classes resulted in strengthened opposition to the French aristocracy and to the absolute monarchy, of which Louis and his wife, Queen Marie Antoinette, were viewed as representatives. Increasing tensions and violence marked by events such as the storming of the Bastille during which riots in Paris forced Louis to definitively recognize the legislative authority of the National Assembly. Louis's indecisiveness and conservatism led some elements of the people of France to view him as a symbol of the perceived tyranny of the Ancien Régime, and his popularity deteriorated progressively. His disastrous flight to Varennes in June 1791, four months before the constitutional monarchy was declared, seemed to justify the rumors that the king tied his hopes of political salvation to the prospects of foreign invasion. The credibility of the king was deeply undermined, and the abolition of the monarchy and the establishment of a republic became an ever-increasing possibility. Despite his lack of popular approbation, Louis XVI did abolish the death penalty for deserters, as well as the labor tax, which had compelled the French lower classes to spend two weeks out of the year working on buildings and roads. In a context of civil and international war, Louis XVI was suspended and arrested at the time of the insurrection of 10 August 1792; one month later, the absolute monarchy was abolished; the First French Republic was proclaimed on 21 September 1792. He was tried by the National Convention (self-instituted as a tribunal for the occasion), found guilty of high treason, and executed by guillotine on 21 January 1793, as a desacralized French citizen under the name of “Citizen Louis Capet,” in reference to Hugh Capet, the founder of the Capetian dynasty – which the revolutionaries interpreted as Louis's family name. Louis XVI was the only King of France ever to be executed, and his death brought an end to more than a thousand years of continuous French monarchy. Both of his sons died in childhood, before the Bourbon Restoration; his only child to reach adulthood, Marie Therese, was given over to the Austrians in exchange for French prisoners of war, eventually dying childless in 1851.

LouisLouise - In film and literature - Netflix

King Louis XVI has been portrayed in numerous films. In Marie Antoinette (1938), he was played by Robert Morley. Jean-François Balmer portrayed him in the 1989 two-part miniseries La Révolution française. More recently, he was depicted in the 2006 film Marie Antoinette by Jason Schwartzman. In Sacha Guitry's Si Versailles m'était conté, Louis was portrayed by one of the film's producers, Gilbert Bokanowski, using the alias Gilbert Boka. Several portrayals have upheld the image of a bumbling, almost foolish king, such as that by Jacques Morel in the 1956 French film Marie-Antoinette reine de France and that by Terence Budd in the Lady Oscar live action film. In Start the Revolution Without Me, Louis XVI is portrayed by Hugh Griffith as a laughable cuckold. Mel Brooks played a comic version of Louis XVI in The History of the World Part 1, portraying him as a libertine who has such distaste for the peasantry he uses them as targets in skeet shooting. In the 1996 film Ridicule; Urbain Cancelier plays Louis. Louis XVI has been the subject of novels as well, including two of the alternate histories anthologized in If It Had Happened Otherwise (1931): “If Drouet's Cart Had Stuck” by Hilaire Belloc and “If Louis XVI Had Had an Atom of Firmness” by André Maurois, which tell very different stories but both imagine Louis surviving and still reigning in the early 19th century. Louis appears in the children's book Ben and Me by Robert Lawson but does not appear in the 1953 animated short film based on the same book.

NOS Koningsdag - Koningsdag - Netflix

Koningsdag (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkoːnɪŋzdɑx] ( listen)) or King's Day is a national holiday in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Celebrated on 27 April (26 April if the 27th is a Sunday), the date marks the birth of King Willem-Alexander. Until the abdication of Queen Beatrix in 2013, the holiday was known as Koninginnedag (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌkoːnɪŋˈɪnədɑx] ( listen)) or Queen's Day and was celebrated on 30 April. The holiday was initially observed on 31 August 1885 as Prinsessedag or Princess's Day, the fifth birthday of Princess Wilhelmina, then heir presumptive to the Dutch throne. On her accession in November 1890 the holiday acquired the name Koninginnedag, first celebrated on 31 August 1891. In September 1948, Wilhelmina's daughter Juliana ascended to the throne and the holiday was moved to her birthday, 30 April. The holiday was celebrated on this date from 1949. Juliana's daughter, Beatrix, retained the celebration on 30 April after she ascended the throne in 1980, though her birthday was on 31 January. Beatrix altered her mother's custom of receiving a floral parade at Soestdijk Palace, instead choosing to visit different Dutch towns each year and join in the festivities with her children. In 2009, the Queen was celebrating Queen's Day in the city of Apeldoorn when a man attempted to attack her by trying to ram the Royal family's bus with his car; instead he drove into a crowd of people and crashed into a monument: seven people in the crowd were killed, as was the driver. Queen Beatrix abdicated on Koninginnedag 2013, and her son, Willem-Alexander, ascended the throne (the first king since the observance of the national holiday). As a result, the holiday became known as Koningsdag from 2014 on, and the celebration was shifted three days back to 27 April, the King's birthday. Koningsdag is known for its nationwide vrijmarkt (“free market”), at which the Dutch sell their used items. It is also an opportunity for “orange madness” or oranjegekte, a kind of frenzy named for the national colour.

NOS Koningsdag - Observance in Netherlands territories outside Europe - Netflix

Koningsdag is also celebrated in Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten, constituent countries of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is less widely celebrated on the Caribbean island of Bonaire, also a part of the Kingdom, where the local celebration of Dia di Rincon (held on 30 April) is more popular.

Coppers - Copper - Netflix

Copper is a chemical element with symbol Cu (from Latin: cuprum) and atomic number 29. It is a soft, malleable, and ductile metal with very high thermal and electrical conductivity. A freshly exposed surface of pure copper has a reddish-orange color. Copper is used as a conductor of heat and electricity, as a building material, and as a constituent of various metal alloys, such as sterling silver used in jewelry, cupronickel used to make marine hardware and coins, and constantan used in strain gauges and thermocouples for temperature measurement. Copper is one of the few metals that occur in nature in directly usable metallic form (native metals) as opposed to needing extraction from an ore. This led to very early human use, from c. 8000 BC. It was the first metal to be smelted from its ore, c. 5000 BC, the first metal to be cast into a shape in a mold, c. 4000 BC and the first metal to be purposefully alloyed with another metal, tin, to create bronze, c. 3500 BC. In the Roman era, copper was principally mined on Cyprus, the origin of the name of the metal, from aes сyprium (metal of Cyprus), later corrupted to сuprum, from which the words copper (English), cuivre (French), cobre (Spanish), Koper (Dutch) and Kupfer (German) are all derived. The commonly encountered compounds are copper(II) salts, which often impart blue or green colors to such minerals as azurite, malachite, and turquoise, and have been used widely and historically as pigments. Copper used in buildings, usually for roofing, oxidizes to form a green verdigris (or patina). Copper is sometimes used in decorative art, both in its elemental metal form and in compounds as pigments. Copper compounds are used as bacteriostatic agents, fungicides, and wood preservatives. Copper is essential to all living organisms as a trace dietary mineral because it is a key constituent of the respiratory enzyme complex cytochrome c oxidase. In molluscs and crustaceans, copper is a constituent of the blood pigment hemocyanin, replaced by the iron-complexed hemoglobin in fish and other vertebrates. In humans, copper is found mainly in the liver, muscle, and bone. The adult body contains between 1.4 and 2.1 mg of copper per kilogram of body weight.

Coppers - Dietary needs - Netflix

Copper is an essential trace element in plants and animals, but not all microorganisms. The human body contains copper at a level of about 1.4 to 2.1 mg per kg of body mass. Copper is absorbed in the gut, then transported to the liver bound to albumin. After processing in the liver, copper is distributed to other tissues in a second phase, which involves the protein ceruloplasmin, carrying the majority of copper in blood. Ceruloplasmin also carries the copper that is excreted in milk, and is particularly well-absorbed as a copper source. Copper in the body normally undergoes enterohepatic circulation (about 5 mg a day, vs. about 1 mg per day absorbed in the diet and excreted from the body), and the body is able to excrete some excess copper, if needed, via bile, which carries some copper out of the liver that is not then reabsorbed by the intestine.

Voetbalvrouwen - Footballers' Wives - Netflix

Footballers' Wives (stylised as footballers wive$) is a British television drama surrounding the fictional Premier League football club Earls Park F.C., its players, and their wives. It was broadcast on the ITV network from 8 January 2002 to 14 April 2006. The show began with a multi-lateral focus on a variety of different types of relationships explored; however, from the third series onward, the primary focus was on a complex love triangle between Tanya Turner (Zöe Lucker), Amber Gates (Laila Rouass) and Conrad Gates (Ben Price).

Voetbalvrouwen - Foreign audience - Netflix

Footballers' Wives has been shown in Portugal, Brazil, New Zealand, Sweden, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Australia, Canada, Colombia, Bulgaria, Germany, the Republic of Macedonia, France, Estonia, Finland, South Africa, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Denmark and the United States. The Swedish broadcaster Kanal 5 retitled the show “Fotbollsfruar”, which translates to Football Wives. It began in the United States in the summer of 2005 on BBC America. The channel has shown series 1-5 and both seasons of Overtime. In South Africa the show appeared on SABC 3 on Monday nights at 21h00. It was very popular. Aall five series have been shown. The show appears in Ireland on TV3. Many Irish viewers receive Ulster Television (UTV) (a subsidiary of ITV) and also watch it on that channel. Often, the same episodes air at the same time. In Turkey, Footballers' Wives is on e2. e2 has shown the first four series; the fifth season will be shown in spring. In 2007 in the Netherlands, a similar series, Voetbalvrouwen (a literal Dutch translation) was launched. It was a huge success and in 2010 season 3 will appear on the Dutch channel RTL4. The original Footballers' Wives series were also shown in the Netherlands with Dutch subtitles. In Germany, RTL made an attempt in 2005 to recreate the look and feel of the show with an adapted version, called Das geheime Leben der Spielerfrauen (The Secret Life of Footballers' Wives). The original scripts were rewritten to appeal to a German audience. The show failed terribly and was cancelled after only four episodes. The original show is currently shown on TIMM. In Slovenia, Footballers' Wives is appearing on Kanal A as Žene nogometašev. In Italy, Mediaset produced its own version of the series, Ho sposato un calciatore. It was axed after one series. In June 2007, the show was being shown in Latin-America on the Fox Life channel. The show is received in various parts of Asia (for example Singapore) on the BBC Entertainment cable channel. In Canada, CBC Television launched MVP in early 2008. That show's creator acknowledged Footballers' Wives as an inspiration, but chose to create a similar series about ice hockey rather than directly adapting Footballers' Wives, as she felt that some elements of the original series — particularly the broad campiness of some British humour — would not translate well to a Canadian audience.

Costa! - Costa Concordia - Netflix

Costa Concordia (Italian pronunciation: [ˈkɔsta konˈkɔrdja]) was a Concordia-class cruise ship built in 2004 by the Fincantieri's Sestri Ponente yards in Italy and operated from 2005 until 2012 by Costa Crociere (a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation). It was wrecked off the coast of Isola del Giglio in Italy on 13 January 2012 due to a collision with a submerged rock; the ship capsized hours later and was subsequently declared a total loss. The wreck was salvaged and then towed to the port of Genoa where scrapping operations began. The name Concordia was intended to express the wish for “continuing harmony, unity, and peace between European nations.” Costa Concordia was the first of the Concordia-class cruise ships, followed by similar ships Costa Serena, Costa Pacifica, Costa Favolosa and Costa Fascinosa, and Carnival Splendor built for Carnival Cruise Lines. When the 114,137 gross tonnage (GT) Costa Concordia and its sister ships entered service, they were among the largest ships built in Italy until the construction of the 130,000 GT Dream-class cruise ships. On 13 January 2012 at 21:45, Costa Concordia struck a rock in the Tyrrhenian Sea just off the eastern shore of Isola del Giglio. This tore open a 50 m (160 ft) gash on the port side of her hull, which soon flooded parts of the engine room cutting power from the engines and ship services. With water flooding in and the ship listing, she drifted back towards the island and grounded near shore, then rolled onto her starboard side, lying in an unsteady position on a rocky underwater ledge. The evacuation of Costa Concordia took over six hours and of the 3,229 passengers and 1,023 crew known to have been aboard, 32 died.

Costa! - Amenities - Netflix

Costa Concordia was outfitted with approximately 1,500 cabins; 505 with private balconies and 55, with direct access to the Samsara Spa, that were considered Spa staterooms; 58 suites had private balconies and 12 had direct access to the spa. Costa Concordia had one of the world's largest exercise facility areas at sea, the Samsara Spa, a two-level, 6,000 m2 (64,600 sq ft) fitness center, with gym, a thalassotherapy pool, sauna, Turkish bath and a solarium. The ship had four swimming pools, two with retractable roofs, five jacuzzis, five spas, and a poolside movie theatre on the main pool deck. There were also five on-board restaurants, with Club Concordia and Samsara taking reservations-only dining. There were thirteen bars, including a cigar and cognac bar and a coffee and chocolate bar. Entertainment options included a three-level theatre, casino, a futuristic disco, and a children's area equipped with video games. She also had aboard a Grand Prix motor racing simulator and an internet café.

Shownieuws - The Simple Life - Netflix

The Simple Life is an American reality television series. The series aired from December 2, 2003 to August 5, 2007. The first three seasons aired on Fox, and the final two on E!. The series depicts two wealthy socialites, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, as they struggle to do manual, low-paying jobs such as cleaning rooms, farm work, serving meals in fast-food restaurants, and working as camp counselors.

Shownieuws - The Simple Life Goes to Camp - Netflix

It was announced on October 9, 2006 that Paris and Nicole had rekindled their friendship and had agreed to shoot the fifth season of The Simple Life together. In an interview with Australian Cosmopolitan magazine in January 2007, Paris confirmed The Simple Life will resume shooting in March 2007, in Malibu, California. The tentative title for the season was Malibu: Camp Simple Life, but later adjusted to The Simple Life Goes to Camp. Paris explained how she and Nicole will be counselors for multiple camps, including, but not restricted to, a beauty pageant camp, a fat camp and a couples camp. It was subsequently confirmed that The Simple Life Goes to Camp has Paris and Nicole working as counselors at Camp Shawnee, a fictional camp on the site of an actual camp, Camp JCA Shalom. The camp was host to five different specialty groups: Wellness Camp, Pageant Camp, Couples Camp, Survival Camp and Drama Camp. The season began picking up where the last left off, with Paris and Nicole recreating their true-to-life reconciliation onscreen for viewers, and then being driven by limousine to the campsite. At least one of the counselors, Hunter Cross, admits he is an actor who auditioned for the role. The camp nurse, Jamie Sue Sherrill, also known as Nurse Jamie, is an actress and a registered nurse. Although most of the campers were in fact non-actors, one of them (the high maintenance girl who quit the camp early) from the survival camp was also seen on an Oust air freshener commercial and Dave from the Drama Camp is a commercial/TV actor as well. The only “real” individual from Camp JCA Shalom to appear on the show is Jorge, the camp chef. The season premiere was on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2007, and the show began its normal Sunday night time slot the following week on E!. Jamie Sherrill appeared during the season as an on-air nurse to both Hilton and Richie. The complete fifth season was released to DVD on January 22, 2008. It contained no special features and not even the extended version of the first episode that was only shown on the premiere. This season is also available for download on iTunes. Also released exclusively to iTunes on August 13, 2007 was a compilation of camp songs dubbed The Simple Life: Camp Songs. The album received no promotion and none of the songs on the album were heard on the show.

We gaan nog niet naar huis - Dutch grammar - Netflix

This article outlines the grammar of the Dutch language, which shares strong similarities with German grammar and also, to a lesser degree, with English grammar.

We gaan nog niet naar huis - Conjugation - Netflix

Dutch conjugation resembles that of other continental West Germanic languages such as (Standard) German and Low German, and also the other Germanic languages to a lesser degree. Dutch retains the two main types of verb inherited from Proto-Germanic: weak and strong. Preterite-present verbs are also present, but can be considered irregular. All regular verbs conjugate the same in the present tense (including the infinitive and present participle), so the weak versus strong distinction only matters for the past tense. The following is a general overview of the endings: Weak verbs are the most common type of verb in Dutch, and the only productive type (all newly created verbs are weak). They form their past tense with an ending containing a dental consonant, -d- or -t-. Which of the two is used depends on the final consonant of the verb stem. If the stem ends in a voiceless consonant, then -t- is used, otherwise -d-. It is often summarised with the mnemonic “'t kofschip”: if the verb stem ends with one of the consonants of 't kofschip (t, k, f, s, ch, p), then the past tense will have -t-. However, it also applies for c, q and x and any other letter that is voiceless in pronunciation. werken, werkte (“to work, worked”) leren, leerde (“to learn/teach, learned/taught”) razen, raasde (“to rage, raged”) lossen, loste (“to lose/get rid of, lost”) Strong verbs are less common in Dutch, but they include many of the most common verbs. They form their past tenses by changing the vowel of the stem (ablaut). For strong verbs one needs to learn three or four principal parts: the infinitive, the past (singular), optionally the past plural, and the past participle. However, the vowel patterns are often predictable and can be divided into seven or so classes, based on the vowels used in these three principal parts. Some verbs are a mixture of two classes. Examples: rijden, reed, gereden (“ride, rode, ridden”, class 1) binden, bond, gebonden (“bind, bound, bound”, class 3a) geven, gaf, gegeven (“give, gave, given”, class 5) lopen, liep, gelopen (“walk/run, walked, walked”, class 7b) A number of verbs mix the strong and weak types of past. They have a strong past participle but all the other past tense forms are weak, or the other way around. lachen, lachte, gelachen (“laugh, laughed, laughed”, weak past, strong past participle) zouten, zoutte, gezouten (“salt, salted, salted”, weak past, strong past participle) vragen, vroeg, gevraagd (“ask, asked, asked”, strong past, weak past participle) Some of the most used verbs in the Dutch language have irregular conjugations which don't follow the normal rules. This includes especially the preterite-present verbs. These verbs historically had present tense forms that resembled the past tenses of strong verbs, and can be recognised in modern Dutch by the absence of the -t in the third-person singular present (the English equivalents lack the -s in the same way). Preterite-present verbs have weak past tenses, but often irregularly formed. Many of these verbs are now used as auxiliary verbs. The additional -t of the second-person gij-form is optional in the past tense for weak verbs and is usually considered archaic. For strong verbs, the -t is always required.

MolTalk - The Talk (talk show) - Netflix

The Talk is an American talk show that debuted on October 18, 2010, as part of CBS's daytime programming block. The show was created by actress Sara Gilbert, who also serves as an executive producer alongside John Redmann. The show is based on the British daily women's panel show Loose Women, which has been running regularly in the United Kingdom since 1999. Along with Gilbert, the show features Julie Chen (who serves as the program's moderator), Eve, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood discussing the day's latest headlines, while usually tying in the show's theme of motherhood or at least parenthood, such as by giving their opinions “through the eyes of mothers.” It also contains celebrity interviews and segments for mothers and parents in general. The Talk is broadcast before a live studio audience at the CBS Studio Center in Studio City, California each Monday through Friday at 11 am Pacific Time, and airs live on most CBS owned-and-operated stations and affiliates in the Eastern and Central United States at 2 pm Eastern Time; the program is broadcast on tape delay elsewhere from the Mountain Time Zone westward. The Friday shows are recorded on Thursday afternoons at 1 pm Pacific Time for broadcast the next day, and is taped before the studio audience in attendance for the earlier live Thursday broadcast.

MolTalk - Format - Netflix

Similar in format to The View, the opening segment of the broadcast – known as “Everybody Talks” and usually running a combined 12 to 25 minutes over multiple segments, depending on the number of stories featured and the number of guests following the topical discussion segments – involves the five-female host panel discussing current news items, typically focusing on tabloid headlines, offbeat stories and celebrity news. The program also actively incorporates social media to allow viewers to provide their opinions on the stories discussed through Twitter (using the hashtag #EverybodyTalks, or alternately the abbreviated #EVBT), however in season five, the program began allowing viewers to use Instagram to record and upload videos using the aforementioned hashtags, with one or two videos being selected to air on the live broadcasts. Twitter comments from viewers are shown on the Monday through Thursday live broadcasts in the form of a ticker at the bottom of the screen; comments from Twitter and Instagram are not featured on-air during the pre-recorded Friday broadcasts. On most editions, the “Top Talker” serves as the final segment of the topical discussion, featuring a rotating set of contributors – most of which are correspondents/hosts of entertainment-related newsmagazine programs or magazines or hosts of local or syndicated radio programs – providing detailed analysis of a single trending, usually celebrity-related, story. Following the “Everybody Talks” segment, all five hosts interview one or two featured celebrity guests; most of these interviews are conducted at the set's roundtable, however the program does occasionally feature group interviews with multiple cast members from a promoted film or television project that are not conducted at the roundtable, and are instead conducted with the hosts and guests seated face to face on-set. Musical performances are also occasionally featured. The show also regularly features a cooking segment two to four times each week, with two of the panelists – rotating between any combination of Chen, Underwood, Gilbert or Osbourne – assisting in the preparation of the featured recipes with the guest chef (the remaining hosts not actively participating in the preparation of the item are seated on the right end of the kitchen island, typically trying the dishes prepared during or before the segment). Product giveaways are also done once per week, as part of a segment showcasing fashion/beauty products and electronics that are given away to studio audience members for attending the show, with the products also being made available for purchase through the show's website at a discounted offer. Each episode is concluded by one of the co-hosts, primarily the moderator, with the sign-off “Remember, it's always the right time to have The Talk!” (the program's title is usually said in unision with the studio audience).

Wat nu weer?! - Comparison of Afrikaans and Dutch - Netflix

Wat nu weer?! - Unmarked and marked forms of words - Netflix

As Afrikaans no longer has unmarked and marked forms of words, instead using words derived from the marked forms in Dutch, the Afrikaans words for “there” and “now”, daar and nou, are more intelligible to speakers of Dutch than the unmarked Dutch forms er and nu are to Afrikaans speakers. For example, nou is daar, meaning “now there is” in Afrikaans, is sometimes encountered in Dutch although nou is used more colloquially for emphasis, in the sense of the English “well”. In Dutch, “now there is” would be translated as nu is er, using the unmarked forms, which do not exist in Afrikaans.

Wouter Vandenhaute (born 16 February 1962) is a Belgian Entrepreneur, Television producer and former sports-journalist. He is currently managing director of the Belgian media holding De Vijver, which includes the TV production company Woestijnvis and TV channel VIER. Vandenhaute married VRT sports journalist Catherine Van Eylen.

Van Vlees en Bloed - Woestijnvis and De Vijver - Netflix

In 1997 Vandenhaute founded together with Jan and Erik Huyse Watté the production Woestijnvis, that initially exclusively made programs for VRT. Thanks to TV personalities such as Uytterhoeven, Rob Vanoudenhoven, Tom Lenaerts and Bart De Pauw, and TV shows like Man bijt hond [Man bites dog], de Mol and Alles Kan Beter [Everything Will Better], Woestijnvis grew into one of the most successful production companies in Flanders. In 2000, De Mol was awarded the prestigious Rose d'Or of Montreux. The program was further sold to about 50 countries. In 2000, then called Vlaamse uitgeversmaatschappij (VUM) became a twenty percent shareholder in Woestijnvis. That year the production company brought the Bonanza weekly magazine. The magazine flopped and was closed after only thirty editions. In the field of television programs Vandenhautes production company experienced continued success through the turn of the century with episodes of the quiz program De Pappenheimers and De Slimste Mens ter Wereld [The Smartest Person in the World], regularly reached more than one million viewers. Even fiction series like Het eiland [The Island], De Parelvissers [The Pearl Fishers] and Van vlees en bloed [Of flesh and blood] were a success. In 2005 Vandenhaute was nominated for Manager of the Year by the financial-economic magazine Trends. The prize eventually went to Jan Callewaert. In 2010, the exclusivity contract between VRT and Woestijnvis was not renewed. That year Vandenhaute was made CEO of De Vijver, the holding company whose properties included Woestijnvis, 49 percent of the Humo magazine. In 2011, De Vijver purchased with Corelio and Sanoma Media TV channels VT4 and VIJFtv for an amount estimated between 100 and 150 million. After the acquisition VT4 was renamed VIER [Four] and VIJFtv to VIJF [Five]. In 2012 with purchase complete, Woestijnvis on air talent and programs were transferred to VIER. In 2014, Sanoma share in De Vijver was sold to Telenet, which became one of the three shareholders of the holding company. As a term of the deal, the weekly magazine Humo again became wholly owned by Sanoma. In 2015, Vandenhaute was made chairman of the board of directors of De Vijver and therefore quit as CEO of the holding company.

Rhode Island ( ( listen)), officially the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, is a state in the New England region of the United States. It is the smallest in area, the 7th least populous, and the 2nd most densely populated of the 50 states—but its official name is the longest. Rhode Island is bordered by Connecticut to the west, Massachusetts to the north and east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south via Rhode Island Sound and Block Island Sound. It also shares a small maritime border with New York. Providence is the state capital and most populous city in Rhode Island. On May 4, 1776, the Colony of Rhode Island became the first of the Thirteen Colonies to renounce its allegiance to the British Crown, and it was the fourth among the newly independent states to ratify the Articles of Confederation on February 9, 1778. The state boycotted the 1787 convention which drew up the United States Constitution and initially refused to ratify it; it was the last of the original states to do so on May 29, 1790. Rhode Island's official nickname is “The Ocean State”, a reference to the large bays and inlets that amount to about 14 percent of its total area.

The Island - Civil War - Netflix

During the American Civil War, Rhode Island was the first Union state to send troops in response to President Lincoln's request for help from the states. Rhode Island furnished 25,236 fighting men, of whom 1,685 died. On the home front, Rhode Island and the other northern states used their industrial capacity to supply the Union Army with the materials that it needed to win the war. The United States Naval Academy moved to Rhode Island temporarily during the war. In 1866, Rhode Island abolished racial segregation in the public schools throughout the state.

Undercover in Nederland - Religion in the Netherlands - Netflix

Religion in the Netherlands was predominantly Christianity between the 10th and until the late 20th century; in the mid-20th century roughly 60% of the population was still Protestant and 40% was Catholic. Since then there has been a significant decline of Christianity—both Catholic but especially Protestant—so that nowadays Catholics outnumber Protestants and there is a secular majority. In 2015, Statistics Netherlands, the Dutch government institute that gathers statistical information about the Netherlands, found that 50.1% of the adult population declared to be not religious. Christians comprised 43.8% of the total population and were divided between Catholics with 23.7% and Protestants with 15.5%. Islam comprised 4.9% of the total population, unspecified other religions 4.6%, Hinduism 0.6%, Buddhism 0.4% and Judaism 0.1%. A large majority of the Dutch population believes that religion should not have a determining role to play in politics and education. Religion is also decreasingly seen as a social binder, and is generally considered a personal matter which should not be propagated in public. The Dutch constitution guarantees freedom of education, which means that all schools that adhere to general quality criteria receive the same government funding. This includes schools based on religious principles by religious groups (especially Roman Catholic and various Protestant). Three out of thirteen political parties in the Dutch parliament (CDA, ChristianUnion, and SGP) are based upon the Christian belief. Several Christian religious holidays are national holidays (Christmas, Easter, Pentecost and the Ascension of Jesus). Atheism, agnosticism and Christian atheism are on the rise and are widely accepted and considered to be non-controversial. Even among those who adhere to Christianity there are high percentages of atheists, agnostics and ietsists, since affiliation with a Christian denomination is also used in a way of cultural identification in the different parts of the Netherlands. In 2015, a vast majority of the inhabitants of the Netherlands (82%) said they had never or almost never visited a church, and 59% stated that they had never been to a church of any kind. Of all the people questioned, 24% saw themselves as atheist, an increase of 11% compared to the previous study done in 2006. The expected rise of spirituality (ietsism) is rising according to research in 2015.

Undercover in Nederland - Other surveys - Netflix

According to an independent in-depth interviewing by Radboud University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2006, 34% of the Dutch population identified as a Christian, decreasing till in 2015 almost 25% of the population adhered to one of the Christian faiths (11.7% Roman Catholic, 8.6% Protestants, 4.2% other small Christian denominations), 5% were Muslims and 2% Hindus or Buddhists. Approximately 67.8% of the population in 2015 had no religious affiliation, up from 61% in 2006, 53% in 1996, 43% 1979 and 33% in 1966. The Sociaal en Cultureel Planbureau (Social and Cultural Planning Agency, SCP) expects the number of non-affiliated Dutch to be at 72% in 2020. KASKI (Katholiek Sociaal-Kerkelijk Insituut / Catholic Social-Ecclesiastical Institute) found 23.3% of the population to be nominal Catholic in 2014, and 10% to be members of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands, based on information provided by the Catholic and Protestant churches. These numbers are significantly higher than the numbers of adherents found by Radboud University and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This shows a big disconnection between membership and actual adherence. Especially the Catholic Church often claims that a quarter of the Dutch population is Catholic, pointing to the official stats, but when questioned, fewer than half that number associate themselves with the Roman faith. A lot of people still registered as members of a church are actually not religious (anymore), but for various reasons have not officially renounced their membership (yet) — a phenomenon known as “belonging without believing”. According to KASKI, the total number of members of Christian groups in the Netherlands has decreased from approximately 7,013,163 (43.22% of the overall population) in 2003 to 5,730,852 (34.15% of the overall population) in 2013. According to Eurobarometer 2012, 44% of Netherlands' residents were Christians. Catholics were the largest Christian group in Netherlands, accounting for 22% of Netherlands' citizens, while Protestants made up 15%, and other Christians made up 7%. Irreligious people and agnostics accounted for 41%, atheists accounted for 8%, and Muslims for 1%. A December 2014 survey by the VU University Amsterdam found that for the first time there were more atheists (25%) than theists (17%) in the Netherlands, the majority of the population being agnostic (31%) or ietsistic (27%).

NOS Journaal 18:00 - Soviet submarine Shch-213 - Netflix

Щ-213 (transliterated as Shch-213 or sometimes SC-213) was a Soviet Navy Shchuka-class submarine, Type X. She was built at the Sudostroytelnyi zavod imeny 61 kommunara in Mykolaiv, Ukrainian SSR, and entered service in October 1938 with the Soviet Black Sea fleet. In October 1942, Shch-213 struck a sea mine and sank with all hands.

NOS Journaal 18:00 - Struma disaster - Netflix

The Shch-213 submarine... encountered on the morning of 24.2.1942 an unprotected enemy vessel Struma... The ship was successfully torpedoed from a distance of [1,118 meters] and sunk... Junior officers... Unit Commander and non-commissioned officers... and the Red Fleet sailor who fired the torpedo... have shown courage. (Soviet Military Archives)

Struma had left the Romanian port of Constanța in December 1941 carrying an estimated 781 Jewish refugees in an attempt to reach Mandatory Palestine. Turkish authorities had detained Struma and her passengers in Istanbul for 10 weeks because hardly any of them had obtained visas to enter Palestine, and the British authorities insisted that under their policy for Jewish immigration to Palestine they would not permit the remainder to do so. Struma’s engine had failed when leaving Romania and again when approaching Turkey, and despite attempted repairs in Istanbul it was still inoperable. On 23 February 1942 a Turkish tug towed Struma back out into the Black Sea and cast her adrift about 10 miles (16 km) off the Turkish coast. Early on the morning of 24 February Shch-213, commanded by DM Denezhko, fired a single torpedo which quickly sank Struma. Many passengers were trapped below decks and drowned. Many others aboard survived the sinking and clung to pieces of wreckage, but for hours no rescue came and all but one of them died from drowning or hypothermia. The only survivor was a 19-year-old refugee called David Stoliar, who was rescued the next day by the crew of a Turkish rowing boat. Initially it was believed a stray mine had sunk Struma, but in the 1960s the German historian Jürgen Rohwer established that SC-213 had done so. Soviet authorities commended Shch-213's crew for sinking Struma:

Vlucht HS13 - List of surviving Supermarine Spitfires - Netflix

The Supermarine Spitfire is a British single-seat fighter aircraft used by the Royal Air Force along with many other Allied countries throughout the Second World War and afterwards into the 1950s as both a front line fighter and also in secondary roles. Many developing countries purchased Spitfires as industrial countries phased out propeller-powered aircraft in favour of new jet-engined machines. As these nations started to update their air forces many Spitfires and other Second World War aircraft were sold on the open market to individuals or for scrap. The aircraft in Hong Kong serving with the UK Colonial wings are a good example of the differing means of disposal where they were simply bulldozed into the sea as part of the process to reclaim land from the water in order to lengthen the runway. Private collectors began to acquire Spitfire aircraft and a number went on to appear in movies and TV shows. These movie and TV appearances in turn helped to save a number of them from being scrapped. The Spitfire with probably the most movie and TV credits is a Mk.IX MH434. It ended up in civilian ownership in the UK around 1963 and has since gone on to appear in many films and TV shows including The Longest Day (1962), The Battle of Britain (1969), A Bridge Too Far (1977), and Piece of Cake (1988). Many Spitfire and Seafire aircraft survive in museums and private collections around the world today and this article lists individual aircraft known to still exist.

Quiz Me Quick - Charles Van Doren - Netflix

Charles Lincoln Van Doren (born February 12, 1926) is an American academic, writer, and editor who was involved in a television quiz show scandal in the 1950s. In 1959 he testified before the United States Congress that he had been given the correct answers by the producers of the show Twenty One.

Quiz Me Quick - Film version - Netflix

The story of the quiz show scandal and Van Doren's role in it is depicted in the film Quiz Show (1994), produced and directed by Robert Redford, in which Van Doren is portrayed by Ralph Fiennes. The film made $24 million by April 1995, and was nominated for Academy Awards in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, and Best Adapted Screenplay. The film earned several critiques questioning its use of dramatic license, its accuracy, and the motivation behind its making. The critics have included Joseph Stone, the New York prosecutor who began the investigations; and Jeffrey Hart, a Dartmouth College scholar, senior editor of National Review, and a longtime friend of Van Doren, who saw the film as falsely implying tension between Van Doren and his accomplished father.
